Starflight The Space Shooter V0.0.4
Dev Log #004: The Foundation is Set!
Project: Starflight: The Space Shooter
Version: v0.0.4
Status: Alpha
Welcome to the latest update for Starflight! We’ve been heads-down in the cockpit getting the core mechanics flight-ready. This version marks a huge milestone: the game is now fully playable from "Start" to "Game Over."
The Asteroid Menace (New Wave System)
The core loop is officially live. We’ve implemented an Unlimited Wave System that scales as you play. To make combat more tactical, we’ve added multi-stage asteroid destruction:
- Big Asteroids: Heavy targets that split into mid-sized chunks.
- Mid-sized: Faster fragments that split into small debris.
- Small: The final, nimble bits you'll need to clear.
- The Challenge: As you progress through waves, the density of the asteroid field increases. Keep your eyes on the HUD!
Power-Ups & Arsenal
Survival in deep space requires more than just a fast trigger finger. We’ve deployed the first four power-up modules to help you stay in the fight:
- Extra Life: Because everyone deserves a second chance.
- Shield: Absorb incoming kinetic energy.
- Slow Motion: Warp time to navigate tight asteroid clusters.
- Weapon Boost: Maximize your fire rate to clear waves faster.
Systems & UI
A game is only as good as it feels to play. We’ve focused heavily on the "User Experience" (UX) in this build:
- Custom Spaceship: Our unique protagonist ship is now fully integrated with smooth flight physics.
- Full Controller Support: Whether you prefer a keyboard or a gamepad, Starflight handles like a dream.
- Persistent Audio: We’ve added a Pause Menu with volume sliders. Most importantly, your settings save even after you close the game.
- HUD & Scoring: Track your high scores in real-time with our newly calibrated heads-up display.
:satellite_orbital: What’s Next?
While v0.0.4 feels like a solid game, we’re just getting started. We are currently working on more power-up varieties, enemy ship AI, and diverse star backgrounds to make the universe feel even deeper.
